Muhammad Tulus Brings Keroncong to Java Jazz

Singer and songwriter Muhammad Tulus, better known as Tulus, has given something special to the audience of this year’s Java Jazz Festival.

The 29-year-old performed keroncong music, sharing the stage with senior keroncong singer Sundari Soekotjo.

Despite being his festival debut, Tulus managed to pull it off. He was able to deliver an impressive performance when he sang “Di Bawah Sinar Bulan Purnama” (Under The Full Moon) and “Teman Hidup” (Life Partner) with Sundari.

Even Sundari lauded his performance.

“Thanks to Tulus for bringing keroncong here [Java Jazz],” she said as quoted by kompas.com.

During his performance, Tulus also shared several songs from his latest album Monokrom (Monochrome), including “Manusia Kuat” (Strong Human) and “Langit Abu-Abu” (Gray Sky).

“Today’s stage is the first time I performed from Monokrom, my third album,” he explained.
